Simple Pleasures

This is a quick hitter. Just mindless, random stuff from me. There are tons more, but I’m just letting these fly out.

Simple Pleasures (random order)

1. The sleep between snoozed alarms

2. The flavoring/seasoning from your favorite bag of chips that gets stuck to your fingers

3. #DaSauce that gets stuck to your fingers after you finish eating ribs

4. Knowing you did something nice and helpful for someone else

5. Being thanked

6. Terry cloth robe on as soon as you’re out of da shower

7. Smell of red meat cooking on an open fire

8. Hearing your children laughing in another room

9. The “clank” of weights in a gym

10. Knowing those that are close to you are peacefully sleeping

11. the first sip of a cold beer after a freshly mowed lawn

12. cold pizza on a Saturday morning

13. letting that fart go in public and not caring who heard you or smells you

14. knowing you’re listened to and heard when you’re speaking

15. doing absolutely nothing

16. sinking a putt you knew you normally wouldn’t make

17. fixing an appliance/gadget you broke

18. being a part of something big

19. that moment after you finish brushing your teeth

20. Tears of joy

Feel free to share your simple pleasures.

Follow Friday and Shout Outs

What’s up, everyone?

I wanted to do a mindless post today that is a part self-promotion, part social media recommendations, and part shout out.

First off, the shout outs. This week marked the birthdays of three special people in my life.

#1. Crystal “Christy” Holloway. This is my sister. She turned 33 on Monday 3/26. My sister and I ain’t never had that closest relationship, but I love her dearly and I know she loves me as well. If something was to go down with her, I will do my best to help and be there for her. I hope she knows that. I love you, sis.

#2. Mark Hicks. This cat is a guy I work with here at SOI. I’ve been at SOI for 11 years now. Mark was one of the first people that came to me on DAY ONE when I started at SOI. He introduced himself, asked about my background, and told me about the ins-outs of office politics. This is my first ever corporate job and I was totally clueless. Mr. Hicks is upper management and I always found it cool that he was just a “normal guy” and flat out cool to me. He is also the guy that help find great seats for Epic Road Trip 2012 to Miami. Monday was his birthday as well. Happy birthday, Mr. Hicks. Even tho you find ways to tear up a computer just by looking at it, I still love ya, bro’.

#3. Joey Woodruff. Like Mark, Mr. Woodruff is the other person to just come up to me and introduce himself. He’s an exec here and became one of my closest friends. This guy is one of the biggest smart asses I know. I was introduced to his family and I love them all. I had the priviledge to meet his father, Joe. This man used to come to the office and joke around with me and be a smart ass too. It was all in fun and love. I have a great deal of respect for him as well. And when he passed a few years back, I hurt for the Woodruff family because I knew how cool and great a man he was. Today is Joey’s birthday. Happy birthday, Jdub. I know you got a big gig lined up by your wife and kids for today right? Right? (crickets) Probably not. (lol!) Love ya, bro’.

Now my recommendations on social media. I’d like to do a Follow Friday rec for some people on twitter.

— @JissJayJune and @onlyda_strong. These folks are family from my church. They have been helpful when i needed them and I care a great deal about ’em. Even tho they have tarheel allegiance

— @Gorilla_Vanilla. This is my affectionately known “cuz”. He’s a meathead, geek, and accounting guru. (none of that matches, right?) But my man has been there for me in more ways than he realizes. Been a pretty ruff and hectic time for me, but he’s had perfect timing on when to reach out and when to just be “cuz”. Thanks, big D. Tip my shot glass of apple pie moonshine to ya.

— @teleotiger, @dsap24, @kerriak, @clemsonrebekah, @dmyii, @toesinthesand22, @jennifervides, @blogshotnetwork, and @getinthemoney. These folks have been VERY supportive in my endeavors of tech and geekdom as well as #DaSauce that I produce and sell. So If you’re on twitter, follow these people for some good and entertaining tweets. Thank you all.

Now. Self-promotion.

As you all may already know, I’m writing and doing a weekly tech podcast now. Be sure to subscribe to those sites for me please. Just go to anewdomain.net and yetanothertechshow.com (YATS) for the subscription options. Easy as pie, I promise.

I’m really enjoying this venture. Last night I was called up to do another podcast as a guest and truly enjoyed it. It’s called Attack of the Androids. Android lovers should check it out here. Follow me on twitter at @ihavnolyfe and follow my the show at @yatspodcast.

Thank you everyone for reading and supporting me.

My New Endeavor(s)

Hello everyone.

I haven’t posted to my personal blog in quite a while. I’ve been focused on a lot of different things and aspects of my daily life that’s pulled me away from posting my mindless content.

First off, I want to say “thank you” for continuing to read my mindless content and spreading the word. When I was posting regularly, I was getting a lot of hits and Google would refer my blog to people in their search queries. I appreciate that, yall.

Next, let me tell you what’s going on with my current endeavors. I’m now Senior Contributor for a new tech site called aNewDomain.net. Some of you may have already heard about me writing there. This was an opportunity I was blessed with. It just fell into place. The Editor-in-Chief is the well-known tech writer Gina Smith. She has a track record with ABC, CNET, and is the co-author of best-seller iWoz, the book about the co-founder of Apple computer, Mr. Steve Wozniak. Gina approached me via my Google Plus feed and the things I wrote on blog. She emailed me about doing guest posting because of comments i made on her site. Next thing you know, I got an email saying “you should write for us”.

As you all know, I’M NOT A WRITER, but I can speak about a topic if I know about it. Even speak eloquently if I need to. So anyway, that’s how I got into aNewDomain.net. We’re growing our staff. We have some BIG TIME writers on our team. Check us out here.

Next, I’ve always wanted to be on a podcast or do my own podcast. I now have the opportunity. It’s called Yet Another Tech Show, aka “YATS”. We recorded our first episode this past Saturday and I LOVED IT. It was a lot of fun and the show turned out great. This will be a weekly thing. It’s a open, loose, tech show about things noted in the world of tech as well as highlighting stories we have written previously. This will eventually offer live video feed via Google Plus Hangout. So check it out on this link.

Again, I THANK YOU ALL for the continued support. I will still continue to post on my mindless blog. The daily trivia is still going everyday and it has GROWN. So get in there and play. I promise the monthly champ a SMALL prize and it seems to have taken off.

Hit me up if you all have suggestions for my blog, aNewDomain.net, or YATS.

Thanks for reading, yall. And also, thanks for continuing to SPREAD THE WORD.

Peace,

-RAP, II
